# Transferring unprocessed agenda items to another meeting

## Transferring unprocessed agenda items to another meeting
Closing a meeting does not move its agenda items. Anything the meeting did not get to stays attached to it and is listed under **Needs rescheduling** on the **Agenda items** page. To carry an item into a future meeting, click **Reschedule** next to it and choose the meeting that takes it over. The item leaves the closed meeting and joins the new agenda.

**Before you start:** you need to be a member of the meeting the item sits on, and you need the right to edit the agenda of the meeting you move it to. The picker offers only meetings where you hold that right, so ask the organiser of the target meeting if the one you want is missing from the list.

## What happens to unprocessed items when a meeting closes?

Nothing moves on its own. Closing a meeting marks it closed and creates its report. Agenda items keep the status they held at that moment and stay attached to the closed meeting until someone moves them, so no prepared work is lost.

Because the meeting is closed, the **Agenda items** page collects those items in the **Needs rescheduling** group and shows a **Reschedule** button on each row. The page lists the items you created or present, not the whole organisation's.

## How do I move an unprocessed item to another meeting?

1. Click **Agenda items** in the Meetings sidebar.
2. Open the **Needs rescheduling** group. It starts collapsed, because it collects leftovers from every past meeting.
3. Click **Reschedule** on the item you want to move.
4. In **Bring to a meeting**, select the meeting that takes the item over. A recurring meeting appears as a single entry: expand it to pick an occurrence.
5. Click **Add to meeting**.

![Bring to a meeting dialog: a search field above two recurring meetings, the first expanded to show its five weekly occurrences with one selected, and the Add to meeting button now active](/images/structure-governance/how-to-transfer-unprocessed-agenda-items-to-another-meeting/02-bring-to-a-meeting-dialog.png)

The item leaves **Needs rescheduling** and appears on the chosen meeting's agenda, where every member of that meeting can see it.

To move a batch, tick the checkbox on each item, then click **Bring to a meeting** in the bar that appears above the list. Every selected item goes to the same meeting.

## Which meetings can I move an item to?

- Only upcoming meetings, and only those starting within the next 30 days.
- Any meeting whose agenda you can edit, whatever its type. The target does not have to belong to the same recurring series as the closed meeting, and a one-off meeting can both hand over and receive items.
- Never a closed or a cancelled meeting. Both are refused.

If the dialog reports **No upcoming meetings in the next 30 days**, schedule the meeting first, then move the item. To set the item aside instead, choose **Remove from meeting** in the row's actions menu: it moves to your **Parking lot**, and **Import** pulls it back onto an agenda whenever you are ready.

## What does the closed meeting's report show?

A moved item no longer belongs to the closed meeting, so it drops out of that meeting's report. The report covers the items that stayed, grouped as **Processed**, **Discussed**, **Not discussed** and **Skipped**.

> **Note:** Moving an item does not reset it. An item you marked **Complete** before the meeting closed still shows as **Complete** on its new agenda, so check the status before you reschedule.
