# Talkspirit glossary

This glossary defines the everyday terms you meet across Talkspirit: its apps, the roles people hold, and the features you use to communicate and collaborate. For the vocabulary of organisational structure and governance (circles, roles, proposals and meetings), see the [Governance glossary](/en/getting-started/governance-glossary).

## Key terms

**Administrator**: A member with organisation-wide management rights over Talkspirit's settings and apps.

**Assignment**: An action attached to a post or a checklist that tells a member something is expected of them.

**Chat**: Instant messaging with one or more members, as direct conversations or rooms.

**Checklist**: A list of steps or actions added to a post for members to complete.

**Document collaboration**: Creating and co-editing text documents, spreadsheets and presentations inside Drive.

**Drive**: A file storage space for documents, images and media. Each member has a personal drive (My Drive) and can open the shared drives of their groups.

**Group**: A space where members share posts and collaborate. A group's visibility is open, closed or secret. The people who join a group are its group members.

**Group manager**: A member who manages a group's information, permissions and labels. The member who creates a group becomes its group manager by default.

**Guest**: A limited-access account, usually for someone outside your organisation.

**Member**: A person with a standard account and full access to your organisation. A member can join open groups, request or be invited to closed groups, and is invited to secret groups.

**Mention**: A way to notify a member or a group in a post or conversation with `@`. The mentioned member receives a notification.

**Newsfeed**: The flow of posts from the groups you belong to, ordered from newest to oldest.

**Notification**: An alert about new activity. Its form depends on whether you are online or offline.

**Owner**: The account responsible for the organisation and its subscription.

**People set**: A set of members who share a characteristic such as position or location. Administrators use people sets to automate who belongs to a group.

**Post**: Content shared by a member in a group, or generated automatically by an integration.
