# Enabling Do Not Disturb mode

## Enabling Do Not Disturb mode
Do Not Disturb pauses the notifications that interrupt you in classic Talkspirit: browser notifications, the unread badge on the browser tab, and mobile push notifications. You switch it on from your user menu, for 30 minutes, for one hour, or until you resume it. Email notifications keep arriving, and so do the notifications from the Structure, Goals, Projects and Meetings apps.

Every member can use it. No particular right is needed.

## Switch Do Not Disturb on

1. Open classic Talkspirit, for example by selecting **Newsfeed** or **Chat** in the navigation rail.
2. Select your avatar at the top right of the screen.
3. Select **Do not disturb**.
4. Under **Pause notifications...**, choose **For 30 minutes**, **For 1 hour**, or **Until resumed**.

The bell icon beside **Do not disturb** switches to a crossed-out bell, and the menu now tells you what time the pause ends.

## What Do Not Disturb silences

While it is on, you no longer receive:

- browser notifications for new chat messages, new newsfeed activity, and new notifications;
- the unread badge on the browser tab icon, and the chat count in the tab title;
- mobile push notifications on the Talkspirit mobile app.

## What it does not silence

- **Email notifications.** They keep arriving exactly as before. To change those, use your notification settings.
- **Your notification list.** Notifications are still recorded while you are paused, so nothing is lost. You simply are not interrupted, and you catch up when you come back.
- **Structure, Goals, Projects and Meetings.** These apps have their own notification settings and Do Not Disturb does not reach them. Their notifications keep appearing in the notification bell, and as desktop notifications where you have enabled them.

There is no timed pause for those four apps. You can only switch a whole app or a single event on or off, in **Account** > **Notifications**. Be careful there: switching **Enable desktop notifications** off for an app removes its notifications from the notification bell as well, not only from the pop-up on your screen. See [Configuring my notification settings](/getting-started/how-to-configure-my-notification-settings).

## Switch it off, or change the duration

1. Select your avatar, then **Do not disturb**.
2. Select **Resume notifications** to switch it off, or **Adjust time** and pick another duration.

**For 30 minutes** and **For 1 hour** end on their own when the time is up. **Until resumed** never expires, so it stays on until you select **Resume notifications**.

## Mute mobile notifications on a schedule

This is a separate setting, and it covers mobile push notifications only.

1. Select your avatar, then **Profile and preferences**.
2. Select **Notifications**.
3. On the **Pause for receiving mobile notifications (Push notifications).** row, switch **Enable** on.
4. Set the start and end times. They are read in your own time zone, which is shown under the fields.
5. To silence the whole weekend, switch **Enable** on for **Automatically mute mobile notifications during the week-end**.

Your phone stays quiet during that window every day. Browser notifications and emails are unaffected, and so is your status: setting yourself to Do Not Disturb does not change what your colleagues see beside your name.
