# Videoconferencing in Talkspirit

Talkspirit videoconferencing runs live video meetings with several participants, from the browser or the mobile app. You open a video room three ways: set a meeting to **Video** or **Hybrid** mode, share your personal video meeting link, or send a link from a chat conversation. Once a room is open, you can chat, run polls, share your screen, react, split into side rooms, and record the call.

## How do I start a videoconference?

Each entry point creates a video room that participants join from a link. Choose the one that fits where the conversation already lives.

### From a meeting

1. In the meeting form, set the location mode to **Video** or **Hybrid**.
2. Select **Generate new link** to mint a fresh video room link, or paste an existing one.
3. Save the meeting. Participants join from the link on the meeting.

### From your public video meeting link

Open your account settings and go to **General**. The **Public video meeting link** section shows your personal room link. Copy it to share, or select **Start video meeting** to open the room. The room stays available to you and to anyone you share the link with.

### From a chat conversation

In a chat conversation, select the **Video conf.** button (the video camera icon) in the message bar. Talkspirit posts a **Join me in a video meeting** message with a **Join** button that opens a fresh video room.

## What can I do during a call?

Before you join, the pre-join screen lets you set your microphone, camera, and background: see [Setting up my entry to a video conference before joining](/communication/set-up-your-entry-to-the-videoconference-before-joining-the-meeting). Once you are in the room, you can:

- Chat and run polls with every participant: [Chatting and sharing a poll in a videoconference](/communication/chat-and-share-a-poll-from-the-videoconference-chat-channel)
- Share your screen as an extra tile: [Sharing my screen during a videoconference](/communication/share-your-screen-on-the-videoconference)
- Raise your hand and send emoji reactions: [Interacting and sending feedback in a videoconference](/communication/how-to-interact-and-send-feedback-on-video-conferencing)
- Share a GIF in the chat: [Sharing a GIF during a videoconference](/communication/sharing-a-gif-in-a-videoconference)
- Split participants into side rooms: [Using side rooms in a Talkspirit videoconference](/communication/side-rooms-on-videoconferencing)
- Record the meeting: [Recording a videoconference in Talkspirit](/communication/record-your-videoconference)
- Moderate the room, mute everyone at once, or add a password: [Managing a videoconference](/communication/manage-a-videoconference)

## How do I join on mobile?

You start and join videoconferences from the Talkspirit mobile app, which opens the call in Jitsi. Chat and reactions work on mobile; recording and screen sharing are not available there. See [Joining a videoconference on mobile](/communication/join-a-videoconference-on-mobile).
