# Translating posts and comments

## Translating posts and comments
When an administrator has enabled translation, a **Translate** button appears under any post or comment written in a language different from your interface language. Click it to read the content in your language, and click **Original** to switch back at any time.

## Translate a post

1. Click **Translate** below the post text. The text and the post title switch to your interface language.
2. Click **Original** to return to the source text.

Attached content is not translated: checklists, polls, images and files stay as they were published.

## Translate a comment

The same button appears below comments written in another language.

1. Click **Translate** below the comment to read it in your interface language.
2. Click **Original** to revert.

## When the button appears

Talkspirit detects the language of each post and comment, and shows **Translate** only when that language differs from your interface language. Content already in your language, or whose language cannot be detected, carries no button.

Your interface language is set from your profile menu: click your avatar, select **Profile & Preferences**, then choose your language under **Language preference**. Changing it also changes which posts offer the **Translate** button. See [Choosing my platform language](/en/getting-started/changing-the-language).

## Who can translate content

Every member can use the **Translate** button, on every plan; no specific role is needed. The button only appears once an administrator has enabled translation for the whole organisation, from **Administration > Newsfeed** in classic Talkspirit: see [Enabling on-the-fly translation for posts](/en/administration-security/enable-translation-on-the-fly).
