# Recording and listening to voice messages on mobile


Voice messages are available in the Talkspirit mobile application. Any member can record and send a voice message from a chat conversation, and listen to the voice messages other members share. Recording uses press and hold: you hold the microphone icon to record, release to send, and swipe left to cancel. A voice message sent from a computer also plays on mobile.

## How do I record a voice message on mobile?

1. Open **Chats** from the menu.
2. Open the conversation or room where you want to send the voice message.
3. Press and hold the **microphone** icon on the right of the message field.

While you hold the icon, the recording timer and a **Swipe to delete** indicator with a bin icon appear.

## How do I send or cancel a voice message on mobile?

**To send:** release the microphone icon. The voice message is sent to the conversation. Hold the icon for at least half a second: if you release too quickly, recording does not start and **Hold button to record** appears.

**To cancel:** while still holding the microphone icon, swipe left to the bin icon. The recording is discarded and nothing is sent.

## How do I listen to a voice message?

A voice message appears in the conversation as an audio player with a **Play** button.

1. Tap the **Play** button on the left of the player. During playback it becomes a **Pause** button.
2. Drag the slider to jump to a specific point in the recording.

The recording's duration displays to the right of the slider.

## How do I delete a voice message I sent?

1. Press and hold the voice message in the conversation.
2. Tap **Delete message**.

The voice message is replaced by **Deleted message** for every participant in the conversation.

> **Warning:** Deleting your own voice message is immediate. No confirmation appears and the message cannot be restored.
