# Leaving a group


## Leaving a group
You can leave a group at any time from its **Settings** panel. The only groups you cannot leave are locked and source groups, where your organisation has made membership mandatory. Guests do not see the option in the group's Settings panel.

## How do I leave a group?

1. Open the group and click the **Settings** icon at the top right.
2. Click **Leave this group**.
3. Click **Leave** to confirm.

You can also leave from the groups directory: click **Groups** in the navigation, then **Leave** on the group's card.

If you manage the group, leaving also gives up your group manager rights. You can leave even if you are the only manager: the group keeps working, and administrators see a "This group has no manager." alert in **Manage groups**. Appoint another group manager before you leave.

> **Note:** If **Leave this group** is missing, the group is a locked or source group. Membership is mandatory, and only your administrators can remove you from it.

## What happens when I leave a group?

When you leave a group:

- The group disappears from your navigation and its posts no longer appear in your newsfeed.
- You can no longer post or comment in the group.
- You no longer appear in the member list.

You can still read an open group without being a member: its newsfeed, drive, and calendar stay accessible to every member of the organisation.

## Can I rejoin a group I left?

That depends on the group's privacy. Find the group by clicking **Groups** in the navigation:

- **Open group**: click **Join** on the group's card to rejoin immediately.
- **Closed group**: click **Request access**. A group manager must approve your request.
- **Secret group**: the group is no longer visible to you. Ask a group manager to add you again.
