# Pinning a comment

## Pinning a comment
Pinning a comment moves it to the top of a post's comment thread, where it appears with a **Pinned** label, so nobody misses it. Only one comment can be pinned per thread: pinning another comment replaces the previous one.

## Who can pin a comment?

Who can pin depends on the **Allow comments pin** permission chosen for your organisation, described in [Allowing users to pin comments](/en/administration-security/allowing-users-to-pin-comments):

- **Administrators** can always pin and unpin comments, on any post. With the default rule, **Only administrators**, they are the only people who can.
- When **Post owners, group managers and administrators** is selected, the **post owner** (the person who published the post) can also pin comments on their post, and **group managers** can pin comments on posts published in a group they manage.
- On posts sent directly to people rather than published in a group, the post owner can pin a comment when **Post owners, group managers and administrators** is selected. Administrators always can.
- A group can follow its own rule instead of the organisation-wide one, if an administrator has allowed group managers to overwrite the permission.

## How do I pin a comment?

1. Click the three-dot icon at the top right of the comment.
2. Select **Pin comment**.
3. Click **Confirm**.

The comment appears at the top of the thread with a **Pinned** label.

## How do I unpin a comment?

Open the same three-dot menu, select **Unpin comment**, then click **Confirm**. The comment returns to its place in the thread. You can also simply pin another comment: the new pin replaces the old one.
