# Identifying who has seen a post

## Identifying who has seen a post
You can see how many people have viewed a post in the newsfeed and who they are. A view counter appears at the bottom right of a post once more than one person has seen it. Everyone who can open the post can open this list, and a platform administrator can switch the list off for the whole organisation.

## How do I see who has viewed a post?

1. Find the post in the newsfeed.
2. Click the view counter, for example **3 views**, at the bottom right of the post.

The **Post viewers** window opens and lists every member who has seen the post.

> **Note:** The author counts as the first viewer, and the counter only appears once a post has been seen by more than one person. A post nobody else has opened shows no counter.

## How does Talkspirit determine that a post has been seen?

A post is marked as seen for a member when:

- it stays on their screen for a couple of seconds (Card view);
- they open the post (List view) or view it from a direct link;
- they interact with it: reacting, commenting, voting in a poll, or bookmarking it all count as views.

Each person is counted once, however many times they come back to the post. Being counted as a viewer does not guarantee that the person has read the full content of the post.

## How do I disable this feature?

A platform administrator can stop members from opening the list of viewers:

1. Go to **Administration** and click **Newsfeed** in the **Apps** section.
2. Under **Views on post**, deactivate **Users can see who has viewed a post (only in groups of less than 250 users)**.
3. Click **Save changes**.

The view counter remains visible on posts; only the list of names is no longer available.
