# Getting a post reviewed before publishing

## Getting a post reviewed before publishing
To have a post checked before it reaches the newsfeed, add a reviewer on the **Validation** tab of the post editor and click **Request validation**. The reviewer discusses the post with you in a dedicated thread, and once they approve it, the post is published automatically.

> **Role prerequisite:** An administrator must first turn on the post validation workflow, which is included in certain plans only. If you do not see the **Validation** tab, see [Activating the post validation workflow](/en/administration-security/activate-the-validation-process).

## Step 1: Choose a reviewer

1. Write your post and pick its recipients: a group, or the members of a private post.
2. Click the **Validation** tab at the bottom of the post editor.
3. Click **Add reviewer** and pick a reviewer from the list.

The reviewer must be a recipient of the post, and you cannot pick yourself:

- For a group post, the list offers the members of the recipient group, including guests.
- If the group requires validation, only its group managers appear in the list.
- For a private post, the list offers the recipients of the post.

You can change the reviewer only while the post is editable, so after the reviewer has answered your request, not while it is waiting for them.

## Step 2: Submit the post for validation

1. Click **Request validation**. If you scheduled the post, the button reads **Schedule** instead.
2. A confirmation dialog reminds you that the reviewer will be notified and that the post will be published after approval, or at its scheduled date. Click **Submit**.

While the request is waiting for the reviewer, you cannot edit the post: the editor shows "You have to wait until the reviewer answers your request."

## Step 3: Follow your requests

1. From the Newsfeed, open the **More** menu (three dots) in the action bar and select **See validations list**. A dot on the menu signals unread activity.
2. The **Validation process** page opens on two tabs: **To validate** for posts you review, and **Requested** for posts you submitted.
3. Each tab groups requests by status: **Validation requested**, **Validation in progress**, and **Approved/Rejected requests**.

## Step 4: Discuss changes with the reviewer

Open a request to see the post next to its discussion thread. You and the reviewer exchange messages there: the reviewer cannot edit your post directly. The reviewer then clicks one of three buttons:

- **Approve**: the post is published immediately, or at its scheduled date.
- **Request changes**: the post comes back to you for edits.
- **Reject**: the post is not published.

## Step 5: Edit and resubmit

When the reviewer requests changes, the post becomes editable again. Rework it, answer in the thread if needed, and click **Request validation** to send it back. After a rejection, click **Edit** to revise the post and submit it again.

Once the reviewer approves, you are done: the post is published for you.
