# Group statistics

## Group statistics

Group statistics show how a group is used: who publishes and contributes, how the audience evolves, and how much activity each enabled app sees. Every member of a group can view its statistics; you do not need to be a group manager.

## How do I access group statistics?

1. Open the group.
2. On the group's **About** page, click **Statistics**.

You can also click the **Settings** (cog) icon in the group's side panel, then **Statistics**.

![The General group with its side panel open on the Settings (cog) tab. The first entry in the panel is Statistics, highlighted, followed by Leave this group, Archive this group and Delete this group, then an Integrations section.](/images/communication/group-statistics/01-group-settings-statistics-entry.png)

At the top right of the statistics page, choose the period to analyse: **This month**, **Last 6 months**, **Last 12 months**, or **All time**. Your choice applies to every section of the page. On the graphs, the current period is drawn as a dashed line because its data is not final yet.

## What data is available?

### Newsfeed activity

When the Newsfeed module is enabled on the group, you see:

- **Top authors**: the five members who have published the most posts.
- **Top contributors**: the five members with the most contributions (posts, likes, and comments combined).
- **Top liked posts**: the five posts with the most likes.
- **Newsfeed**: a graph of the number of **Posts created**, **Likes on posts**, and **Comments on posts**. Click a series name above the graph to show or hide it.
- **Types of posts**: how many posts contain a gallery, a poll, a checklist, or an integration (for example an RSS feed).

Below, Top authors lists one member with "4 posts published" and Top contributors lists the same member with "4 contributions"; the Top liked posts section beneath reads "Not enough data collected at this time".](/images/communication/group-statistics/02-statistics-top-authors-contributors.png)

### Audience, connections, and devices

- **Group audience**: the group's number of members and followers at the end of each month.
- **Average connected members**: the average number of connected members over the selected period, shown by day or by week.
- **Devices**: the number of members using Talkspirit on a computer or on a mobile device.

## What app activity data is available?

A section appears for each additional app enabled on the group:

- **Chats**: the number of messages sent in the group conversation.
- **Drives**: the number of files added and created in the group's Drives.
- **Calendar**: the number of events created in the group's calendar.
- **Projects**: the number of tasks and projects created in the group's Projects module.

## How do I export group statistics?

Click **Download statistics** at the top of the statistics page. Talkspirit prepares an Excel file and the download starts as soon as it is ready.

## Who can see group statistics?

You must be a member of the group to open its statistics. Group managers see the same data as other members. For statistics across your whole organisation, administrators can use [Platform Analytics](/en/goals-analytics/organisation-overview).

> **Tip:** Use group statistics to identify inactive groups that could be archived, or active groups that deserve more visibility.
