# Enabling or disabling comments on a newsfeed post

## Enabling or disabling comments on a newsfeed post
You can disable comments on your newsfeed posts, either while you write them or at any time after publishing, and re-enable them later. This is useful for official updates and announcements that do not need discussion. Disabling comments hides any existing comments: they are not deleted, and they reappear if you re-enable comments.

## How do I disable comments when creating a post?

1. Open the post editor and write your post.
2. Click the **Edition and comments** tab below the editor.
3. Switch on **Disable comments**.
4. Publish your post.

## How do I enable or disable comments on a published post?

1. Open the action menu on your post.
2. Select **Disable comments** or **Enable comments**.
3. Click **Disable** (or **Enable**) in the confirmation dialog.

You can toggle comments on the posts you have published. If your post allows co-edition (the **Allow all recipients to edit this post** option), everyone who can edit the post can also toggle its comments.

## What readers see when comments are disabled

The **Comment** button under the post is greyed out, and hovering over it shows the message "Comments are disabled for this post". Existing comments are hidden and readers can no longer add new ones. Re-enable comments at any time to display the hidden comments again and reopen the discussion.

> **Note:** To restrict commenting for a whole group rather than a single post, group managers can set who can comment in the group's permissions, including a **Nobody** option. See [What is a group manager?](/en/communication/the-group-manager).
