# New Projects module Overview

The Projects module brings former Actions and Projects together as **Tasks**, created and tracked in the **Projects** application. A task can stand alone as a personal to-do, nest inside another task as a sub-task, or belong to a project board. Every member, role, and circle follows its work from one place, so there is no longer a separate tool for actions and for projects.

## How does the new Projects module work?

Former Projects and Actions are now **Tasks**, created in the **Projects** application. A task can be:

- A **personal task** that appears in your task list without belonging to a board.
- A **sub-task** nested inside a parent task.
- A **task on a project board**.

A task on a board is the equivalent of a former Project: a longer piece of work with an outcome to reach over time. A task with no board is the equivalent of a former Action: something you act on directly. When your organisation moves to the new Projects module, your existing Actions and Projects are migrated into Tasks, keeping their assignees, due dates, labels, and comments.

### Where do my tasks appear?

The **My Tasks** view gathers every task assigned to you across all projects, alongside your personal tasks. You can group and filter this view to separate personal tasks from tasks you hold through a project.

### Where do a circle's tasks appear?

A circle (and a role) has a **Projects** tab, listing the project boards it owns (former Projects), and a **Tasks** tab, listing tasks assigned to it that do not sit on a board (former Actions).

## What does a task card contain?

A task card is identified by its **title** and **description**. It also holds:

1. **Assignees**: one or more members, roles, or circles.
2. **Due date**, with an optional start date.
3. **Priority** and **status**.
4. **Labels**.
5. **Linked key results**, which tie the task to a Goal.
6. **Sub-tasks**, organised into lists.
7. **Attachments**.
8. **Progress bar**.
9. **Dependencies** on other tasks.
10. **Comments**.
11. **Activity**, the task's edit history.

From a task card you can also:

1. Edit the description with the rich-text editor.
2. Copy the task's link.
3. Duplicate the task.
4. Move the task to another project and section.
5. Mark the task as a duplicate of another task.
6. Bring the task to a meeting.
7. Archive the task.
8. Delete the task.

## Who can access a project?

Access to a project depends on its **privacy level** and on each person's role within it. A project has three privacy levels:

- **Public**: everyone in the organisation can find and view the project. Non-members have read-only access.
- **Private**: only project members can view the project. It still appears in the directory, but its content is restricted.
- **Secret**: only project members can view the project, and it does not appear in the directory.

Within a project, each member holds a role: **Owner**, **Admin**, **Contributor**, or **Viewer**. The role is granted directly or inherited through a circle or role the member belongs to. A project admin changes a project's privacy from the project menu.

## How are projects reviewed in a meeting?

A meeting agenda can include a **Projects** section. It automatically lists the projects of the meeting's participants, the circles and roles invited, so the team reviews updates together. You choose whether each section appears in the meeting report.
