# Setting up recurrent tasks

## Setting up recurrent tasks
If you have found a repeat button in a task's date picker and wondered why nothing repeated, you are not doing anything wrong. Task recurrence is not available yet. The button is there and it offers Daily, Weekly and Monthly, but the frequency you pick is not saved, so no repeating task is created and no copy of the task ever appears.

> **Note:** Task recurrence is not available yet, but it is planned. This article describes how it worked in the previous version.

## What can I do instead today?

Duplicate the task each time you need it again. A duplicate is a one-off copy: it carries no recurrence of its own. See [How do I duplicate a task?](/collaboration/how-to-duplicate-a-task).

## How did recurrence work in the previous version?

In holaspirit you set a recurrence from the task's due-date picker: you added a recurrency, chose **Daily**, **Weekly**, **Monthly**, **Yearly** or **Custom**, and gave it a start date and an optional end date.

Do not treat that as a description of what will ship. When recurrence ships it will not be the same feature, so this article will be rewritten against what actually ships rather than against holaspirit.

## What will I need when it lands?

Rights to create tasks on the board the task belongs to. Personal tasks that sit outside any board are allowed too, so no administrator rights are involved either way.
