# Moving a task to another board

You can move a task from its board to any other project board you are a member of. Open the task's options menu, choose **Move** then **Other project**, and pick the destination board and the section the task lands in. The task keeps its assignees, and every subtask moves with it.

## How do I move a task to another board?

1. Open the task, then open its options menu (**Task options**).
2. Select **Move**, then **Other project**.
3. In the **Move Task** dialog, choose the **Destination Project**. The list holds the boards you are a member of, and you can search it by name.
4. Choose the **Section**, the column of the destination board where the task lands.
5. Select **Move**.

## What moves with the task?

The task keeps its assignees, description, dates, and labels. Every active subtask moves with it into the same section, including nested subtasks. Archived subtasks stay behind.

The task lands at the bottom of the section you choose. If that column sets a status, the task's status changes to match: a **To do** column sets the task to To do, and a **Done** column marks it Done.

> **Note:** You cannot move a subtask on its own to a different board. Move its parent task, and the subtask travels with it.
