# Can I make a single task private?

The Projects module has no per-task privacy setting: you cannot mark an individual task as private, and a task card carries no privacy or lock control. Who can see a task is decided by the privacy of the board it belongs to. To keep a set of tasks visible to a limited group, place them on a board whose privacy is **Private** or **Secret**, so that only board members can open the board and everything on it.

## How board privacy controls who sees a task

A board's privacy applies to every task on it. You choose one of three levels:

- **Public**: everyone in the organisation can view and find the board and its tasks.
- **Private**: only board members can view the board and its tasks. The board still appears in the project directory.
- **Secret**: only board members can view the board and its tasks, and the board is hidden from the directory.

You set the level when you create a board, and change it later from the board menu with **Change privacy**. Moving a board to a more restricted level removes access for everyone who is not a board member.
