# Drive rights management

A group's Drive permissions decide which members can manage files, create labels, and run bulk actions in that group's Drive. A group manager sets each permission from the group's **Manage permissions** screen, choosing **Only group managers** or **Allow all members**. When an action is limited to group managers, other members keep read access to the Drive.

**Prerequisites:** you are a group manager of the group, and the Drive module is enabled for it.

## How do I open the group permissions?

1. Open the group.
2. Click the **Settings** icon in the group.
3. Select **Manage permissions**.

## Which Drive permissions can I set?

The **Manage permissions** screen always shows one Drive permission:

- **Set who can manage drives files and folders (creation, modification and deletion)** controls who can create, modify, delete, and move files and folders.

Two more Drive permissions appear only once an administrator has enabled **Allow group managers to overwrite this permission** for them in **Administration** (under **Drives** for bulk actions, and under the group settings for labels):

- **Set who can setup labels** controls who can create and edit the group's Drive labels.
- **Set who can edit multiple files in drive** controls bulk actions: selecting several files at once to move, download, or delete.

Each permission offers **Only group managers** or **Allow all members**. **Set who can edit multiple files in drive** cannot be broader than file management: when you restrict **Set who can manage drives files and folders (creation, modification and deletion)** to **Only group managers**, bulk actions switch to **Only group managers** as well and the option is locked.

## What happens when an action is restricted to group managers?

Members keep read access to the Drive: they can open and download files even when every action is limited to group managers. The permission applies to everyone, so a member who created a file earlier can no longer modify, move, or delete it once file management is restricted to group managers.
