# Using the Talkspirit calendar

The Talkspirit calendar gathers every event you take part in into one member-scoped view: group events, private events, and events from a synchronised external calendar. You open it from the left sidebar, switch between week, month and year layouts, view a specific group's events, and create your own events with an optional video meeting link, recurrence, and news feed sharing.

The calendar is available on every plan, and any member can open it. Creating an event inside a group requires the group manager role, or permission to post in that group.

## How do I open the calendar?

Click **Calendar** in the left sidebar. The calendar opens on a view of every event you take part in, including events from members you have added to your view.

Switch the layout with the view selector:

- **Week**
- **Month**
- **Year**

Turn on **Show weekends** to include Saturdays and Sundays. This toggle is available in the week and month layouts.

## How do I view a group's events?

Open a group and select its **Calendar** to see only that group's events. Filter them with the tabs:

- **Last added**: every event, newest first (the default)
- **Upcoming**: events that have not yet occurred
- **Attendee**: events you have joined
- **Past**: events that have already occurred

Each event appears as a card. Click **Take part!** on a card to join the event. The card then shows you as a participant, and the event appears under the **Attendee** tab.

## How do I create an event?

Open the calendar (or a group's calendar) and click **New event**, then:

1. Choose one or more **recipients**: a group, or one or more members.
2. Enter a **title**.
3. Set the **start and end date and time**, or switch the event to all-day.
4. Click **Publish**.

Before you publish, you can also add:

- A video meeting link: click **Add video link**. If both a video meeting and a webinar service are enabled for your organisation, choose **Video meeting** or **Webinar** first. The link is generated from the event title; rename it if you want, then click **Generate** (or **Save** for a webinar).
- A recurrence: switch on **Repeat the event**, then pick a frequency and an optional end date.
- Attendance tracking: **Request for invitation answers** is on by default so invitees can respond. Switch it off to skip it.
- **Make this event private**: available when you send the event to members rather than a group, so only those members see it.
- A **description**, a **location**, and a **cover image**.

## How do I share an event in the news feed?

Post an event to a group or member news feed so members can comment on it. You can share it when you create it, or afterwards:

- When you create the event, switch on **Share in the newsfeed**. This appears when the news feed is enabled for the event's recipients.
- After the event exists, open it and, from its actions menu (the three dots), select **Share in the newsfeed**.
