# Viewing and using birthdays and work anniversaries


You can view your coworkers' birthdays and work anniversaries in the **Calendar** app and send them a quick message in Chat. An administrator enables the feature, and each member adds their birthday and work anniversary date in their profile. Once set up, both dates appear as entries in the calendar.

**Prerequisites:** an administrator must enable birthdays and work anniversaries before these calendars appear. See [Activating birthdays and work anniversaries](/en/collaboration/activate-birthdays-and-work-anniversaries).

## How do I add my birthday and work anniversary?

1. Go to **Profile and preferences → Information**.
2. Fill in the **Birthday** and **Work anniversary** fields.

The **Birthday** and **Work anniversary** fields appear only after an administrator enables the feature.

Your dates then appear in the **Calendar** app, and on your profile page if your organisation displays them there.

## How do I display birthdays and work anniversaries?

1. Go to **Calendar**.
2. In the sidebar, under **My calendars**, select the **Birthdays** calendar and the **Work anniversaries** calendar.

Each calendar shows every birthday or work anniversary that members have entered. A member who has not entered a date does not appear in the calendar.

## How do I send a birthday or anniversary message?

1. Select the birthday or work anniversary event in the calendar.
2. Select **Send a message**.

You open a conversation with that member in Chat.

> **Note:** The **Send a message** button appears only when the Chat module is enabled, and never on your own birthday or work anniversary.
