# Ensuring videoconferencing is available for members

## Ensuring videoconferencing is available for members
Making videoconferencing work for everyone in your organisation takes three things: the switch under **Administration > Tools**, the right network ports open, and browsers allowed to use the microphone and camera. You need administrator rights for the switch. The ports are a job for whoever runs your network, not for you.

## Step 1: Switch videoconferencing on

1. Go to **Administration**.
2. Open **Tools**.
3. Find the **Videoconference** card and switch it on.

**Note:** videoconferencing is on by default. If the switch is missing or locked, check your plan, it decides whether your organisation has videoconferencing at all.

## Step 2: Decide whether meetings can be recorded

Switching videoconferencing on reveals a **Recording** switch on the same card. Turn it on to let members record their video meetings; leave it off and nobody in the organisation can record.

## Step 3: Open required network ports

This step belongs to whoever runs your network. Ask them to open:

- UDP ports 10000 to 10100 on IP 176.31.142.41
- For TCP/HTTPS traffic on port 443, the domain *.talkspirit.com on IP 87.98.173.251

## Step 4: Verify microphone and camera permissions on devices

Videoconferencing needs the browser's permission to use the microphone and the camera. See [Allowing the microphone on a video conference room](/communication/allowing-the-microphone-on-a-video-conference-room) for how members grant it, browser by browser.

## Step 5: Confirm the browser is supported

Videoconferencing runs in the browser, so members need a supported one. See [Which browsers is Talkspirit compatible with?](/getting-started/which-browsers-is-talkspirit-compatible-with) for the current versions.

## What changes once videoconferencing is on?

- **Every member gets a personal video meeting link**: a public URL they can share to invite anyone into a call, including people without a Talkspirit account.
- **Meetings get a video link**: from a meeting, members generate a link that takes everyone into the same call.

**Note:** when you open a videoconference from the desktop application, it opens in your default browser. You must be signed in to your Talkspirit account in that browser to join.
