# Configuring the organisation apps directory

## Configuring the organisation apps directory
With the apps directory, you give members a curated list of your organisation's official external applications. Once the feature is on, members find an **Apps** entry in the main navigation listing every app you have activated. You can build the directory from a catalogue of more than 1,000 apps, add your own custom apps, or synchronise it with Okta.

> **Role prerequisite:** Every step in this article requires administrator rights. The Apps Directory feature depends on your plan: if it shows as **Available on a higher plan**, contact your sales representative.

## Step 1: Enable the apps directory

1. Go to **Administration** and open **Tools**.
2. On the **Apps Directory** card, turn on the switch.

The **Apps** entry appears in the main navigation for all members.

## Step 2: Open the directory configuration

1. Click **Apps** in the main navigation.
2. Click **Manage applications**.

The **Apps directory** administration page opens. Under **Select your apps provider**, keep **Default provider (+1.000 apps)** to configure the directory manually. The page shows three tabs: **Activated apps**, **All apps** and **Personalized apps**.

## Step 3: Activate apps from the catalogue

1. Open the **All apps** tab. Use the search field to find a specific app.
2. Click **Activate** on each app you want to offer to your members.

A green dot on the card marks an activated app; a grey dot marks an inactive one. Some catalogue apps have no default link and display "Please configure an url first, to enable this app": set their URL before activating them.

By default, each app opens its main page. To point it at a page specific to your organisation:

1. Click the gear icon on the app card.
2. In the **Customize url** field, enter the URL matching your organisation.
3. Click **Save**.

## Step 4: Add a custom app

If an app is missing from the catalogue:

1. Click **Add a new app**.
2. In the **Add a custom app** window, fill in the **App name**, a description and a link. You can also add an image (128 x 128 pixels recommended).
3. Click **Create**.

Your custom apps are listed in the **Personalized apps** tab, where you can activate them, edit them with the gear icon, or delete them with the trash icon.

## Alternative: Synchronise the directory with Okta

If your organisation manages its apps in Okta, the directory can mirror each member's Okta applications:

1. On the **Apps directory** administration page, choose **Okta SSO** under **Select your apps provider**.
2. Enter your **Okta Domain Name** and **Okta SSO Key**.
3. Click **Register**.

> **Warning:** Switching providers replaces the directory. Members lose the apps from the previous provider, and Talkspirit asks you to confirm before changing.

To return to the manual catalogue, click **Disconnect**.

## What members see

Members open **Apps** in the main navigation. With the default provider, the page offers two tabs: **My list**, the member's personal selection, and **Browse apps**, the activated apps they can add to their list. With Okta, the page directly lists the member's Okta applications. Your directory is now available to everyone in the organisation.
